rain where we saw a few thunderstorms last night in bremer, butler, grundy and black hawk counties. more rain is on the way. here's the storm track 7 live doppler radar across easttn iowa. light to moderate rain continues to track through. where you are seeing the yellows is where we are seeing the heavier pocketsof rainfall. low pressure i down to the south and will conninue to pumm moisture into the area through the overnight hours, and even into early monday. here's a look at the future track, showing the rain through the overnight hours. this will continue into the morning, but will become more scattered in

a student today. according to an email sent from president bill ruud -- at this point the cae of death is unknown -- but foul play is not suspected. we have a rereorter on campus investigating the story further. we hope to report more information as it becomes available. vertmont senator bernie sanders makes his way through eastern iowa this weekend. today -- he joins the congregation of mount carmel baptist church in waterloo. kwwl's jessica hartman was the only local t-v reporter attending the event. she joins us live in the newsroom with the dedeils. it was a lively and enthusiastic crowd who greated bernie sanders this morning -- as he mentiod wealth, poverty, and america's crime

not everyone who attenned the event -- supported sanders. a few attendees say tty simply wanted to hear what he had to say. we've got y ou covered live in the newsroom -- jessia hartman kwwl news. a semi is destoryed during a fire in the waverly super eight parking lot. firefighters responded to the incident around one this afternoon. here is a picture a viewer posted on our facebook page when semi was on fire. when our crew made it to the scene -- the semi was destroyed. the fire chief says it could have happened due to some sort of electrical short in the semi's engine. no e was injured in the incident. and when you see news - or if you have pictures or video to share... you can do that by going to our page on facebook.

stay u to date on breaking news a dubuque e n -- who called police to report an attempted burglary wound up getting arrested himself. the man called police last night-- to report a break- in. the offiier who responded asked if they could look around for a the person trying to get inside. while doing that -- officers saw marijuana stems and seeds in plain view-- and later found t to grams of e drug. the man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. . a man is recovering tonight -- after injuring himself by a self- inflicted gunshot wound while deer hunting. the accident happened at the basswood recreation area near around 7:45 this morning. 70-year-old david clark was sitting on a log with his loaded shotgun -- when it went off -- while he was changing his position. he was shot in the hand and then taken to the hospital. he is expected to recover from the incident. now to another hunting accident-- a man as injured from a self-

trapping in delaware county. 51-year-old carey ahlers was loading his handgun while checking his traps when it discharged striking him in the leg. he was also taken the hospsptal -- and is expected to recover. he is the longest serving govenor in united states history. it's a title iowa govenor terry branstad will earn tomorroro. mmday marks hii 7-thousand-six- hundred-forty- second day as governor of iowa. that's just short of 21 years in office... kwwl's kristin rogers caughttp with iowans today at a local coffee shop, kristin what do people think about this? well mac he's currently serving his 6th term as govenor so i was govenor branstad will be passing up new york govenor geroge clinton for the record of longest serving govenor.. branstad was born and raised in (cg: solomon richards/ iowa resident) "i'm not a republican but i do think

here is a closer look at some of the moderate pocket of rain across eastern iowa. no thunderstorms have been reported, but the rain has been light to moderate at times, and that will continue as we head into the evening and overnight hours. low pressure is down to the south and will continue to pump moisture into the area through the overnight hours, and even into early monday. here aae a look at e rainfall

dubuque and waterloo broke their records early in the day, and we are close to breaking records in cedar rapids and iowa city. we could see anothe inch, to locally 2 inches across the rea. storm track 7 live weather network cameras across eastern iowa are showing much ofofthe same scene. it's wet. be cautious for ponding on the roadways. temperatures right now have about 20 degrees spread across the area. north of the warm front, temperatures are in the 4 4s, south of the warm front temperatures are near 60 degrees. there have been

east of central avenue and the south end as food deserts. for urban areas...nieghborhoo ds are considered food deserts if twenty perrnt of the people live in poverty -- or live more than one mile away from a grocery store. one dubuque woman says her "i do see a lot of walmers, i school, down in that area." some turur to convieneee stores...which can almost be found on every urban block. that woman also added...some convience stores like kwik star actually have a pretty good selection. now, food deserts also affect rural communities. for example, in parts of delaware county...people have to drive more than ten miles to the nearest grocery store. we've got you covered live from the t-h meadi newsroom in
